=================================

Manchester United plan to add to their Serbian contingent by signing another of the country’s outstanding talents. Filip Djuricic, a 16-year-old midfield player, attended United’s 3-0 victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday as a guest of the European champions, who are considering a late bid to beat Ajax to his signature.

Since signing Nemanja Vidic three years ago, United have established a strong scouting network in the Balkans, led by Budimir Vujacic, the former Yugoslavia forward. Vujacic was influential in uncovering Zoran Tosic and Adem Ljajic, who last month agreed to join United from Partizan Belgrade in a combined deal worth a projected £17.3 million, and he has now proposed a deal for Djuricic, who hopes to leave Radnicki Obrenovac, his home-town club, for a small fee. Ajax were expected to sign the teenager, but United, having been alerted to his availability and potential, may make a counter-bid.

Tosic, the 21-year-old winger, is already a United player, having been given the No 14 shirt, and will look to gain first-team experience in the final months of the season. Ljajic, the 17-year-old midfield player, has not yet been granted a work permit but is expected to arrive in Manchester in the summer after spending the rest of this season with Partizan.

United will announce plans today for their next pre-season tour to Asia, which will include their first visit to Indonesia. The tour, which takes place in July, will feature matches against local opposition in four countries, including Malaysia and South Korea as well as either China or Hong Kong, but it is their visit to Indonesia that will arouse most interest. United have not visited Indonesia in five pre-season expeditions to Asia, but they are committed to reaching out to their estimated 28 million followers there as they look to continue to expand their global brand.
